MISSION  MORECAMBE  2010

A Mission of friendships, good memories, and the Joy of the Lord.

After months of outreach, preparation and training, the weekend of the Tent Mission arrived complete with glorious weather and happy crowds on the promenade. The Blues Festival at the Station on the Saturday and the Kite Festival on the sands by the Midland Hotel on the Sunday, all helped to bring the people to the Front. The tents and the tent site looked just right, so well placed and visible, and really welcoming.

This year, to make the most of the time available, six different meetings were arranged for the weekend. The first on the Friday was the Youth Evening, appropriately named ‘Ig: nite’. The main tent was suitably prepared with balloons, soft juice bar, chill out area, and an exciting evangelistic youth band from Kings Community Church, Lancaster. At the altar call by Davey Falcus, many young people came forward for ministry, receiving Jesus as their Saviour, and then responding by coming into the ministry/aftercare tent.

Saturday came with more sunshine and people on the promenade, tent and team getting into gear. With the happy welcoming atmosphere, the people came in, responding to the excellent music group and great songs. Davey made the altar call again, and as he did so, an older gentleman sitting near the front, stood up and began pacing up and down the central aisle without the aid of his walking stick. He had come into the tent barely able to walk. People now came flocking forward full of expectancy, and were lined up in rows at the front, all receiving a touch from the Lord, with many making life changing decisions.

The evening meeting was soon upon us, and Bobby Ball was welcomed, introduced to team members, joined together in prayer, and the evening began. Another music group led the worship, John Gaughan sang introductory songs, and Bobby spoke about his life and how he had come to Jesus. The funny stories and quips interspersed with more serious teaching prepared people for the call. Soon, once again, people were packed at the front of the tent receiving ministry from Bobby, Davey and the ministry team, passing from them into the ministry/aftercare tent. What a great day, so full of people, music, ministry, and joyful faces.

Sunday began with ‘ The Church on the Prom’ led by Kings Community Church, Lancaster. So exciting for the church to move to the promenade for their morning worship, and hosting visitors walking along the front. Brian Shutt, a national speaker, spoke wonderfully about the ‘in spite of, the nevertheless of God’. The afternoon meeting was led by yet another music group, this time from Brookhouse Methodist Church. Dougie March spoke powerfully about how he had been enslaved by drugs, and had been delivered on receiving Jesus into his heart.

The evening meeting was begun by the Lancaster University Pentecostal Choir, which was amazing. Morecambe Bay Fellowship music group led the worship, and John Gaughan gave his testimony with songs, which included hits from his time with the sixties group ‘Herman’s Hermits’. Hilson Carter, the Mission Leader, thanked the many who had helped the mission, introduced the blowing of the two Shofars, Jewish rams horns, which had been obtained from Israel especially for the occasion, to signify the calling of the churches. Once again people flocked to the front of the tent, receiving ministry, healing, and giving their lives to Christ. Truly a mission of friendships and good memories, but also, the Wonders of the Lord.

Every blessing in Jesus. Jonathan Stewart.

According to the law of first mention, the church is primarily about spiritual warfare.

"I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it"

We are the returning, alien, invading army of the rightful king, having been called out from under the government of darkness.

Many years ago the Lord showed me that spiritual warfare can have 7 dimensions:

Prayer, Unity, Proclamation, Counsel, Education, Care and Service.

The weapons of our warfare are very strange!  Remember Gideon and his torchbearers or Joshua and his linen clad musicians?  Our identity and our weaponry are both defined by one thing - the truth! We are people of the light, and the threat that we pose is always that we are likely to shed light on the situation!  Notice that nearly all the items of defensive clothing in Ephesians relate to the truth.  More particularly the items of clothing relate to the truth about us!  Wait a minute, wasnt this the battleground, the very reason for the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness?

What are the enemies arrows?  Why, they are accusations - untruths about us.  Isnt his name Satan, the accuser of the brethren?  So then if we can repulse those accusations by our defensive weapons - our clothing and our shield - then we can advance on the enemy territory without fear.  Indeed one of the Roman methods of attack was to put shields together and form a battering ram.

Our ability to push forward depends on the strength of our defence. What is the state of our clothing and our shield?

Ah, now its all making sense.  They overcame the wicked one by the ....blood of the Lamb.  From which we get the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, the Gospel,  and the finished work of Calvary as the basis for our faith.

So whilst it is important to repulse the enemies attacks, it is even more important to pray that we dont give him any access in the first place:  "Lead us not into temptation".

Pray that we all understand, remember and meditate on the work of grace - making us unblameable and unreproachable in his sight - notwithstanding the fact that in ourselves we are the opposite.  In other words, blunt Satans attacks by agreeing with his assessment of our goodness in ourselves, then pointing to grace and the righteousness of Christ as the bedrock of our personality,

The proof of the truth of all this is in the "word of our testimony".  God testifies to his justification of us by the blessings on our lives, to which in turn we testify in the most incontrovertible way - we are prepared to be martyrs rather than deny the truth of what we affirm.

Faced with such truth, the "Father of Lies" can only run.  He is truly resisted when we SAY,  No thats not the truth, this is what is written.  He runs!  This is the thrust of the sword of the Spirit, but we cannot advance and thrust like this confidently unless we are clad with the clothing that derives from the blood of Jesus.  Just as new clothes gives us a new self-image, so the armour of God gives us a new, true, image of ourselves:  righteous, saved.

Picture of Theresa Davies
At 2pm today, 16th September 2009, Theresa Davies, Deputy Registrar with Islington Borough Council, will be interviewed in an internal grievance procedure where her demotion because of her refusal to preside over same sex civil partnership ceremonies will be discussed. A fundamental issue is being raised in this case as to whether Christian faith presents a bar to Governmental and numerous private sector employments. In a number of decisions it has been held lawful for an employer to
require adherence to an Equal Opportunities Policy, and compel Christians to support the practice of sexual conduct that they believe is sinful. In short, a condition of employment will be the support of practices contrary to their faith. These rulings will drive many Christians out of many employments; and in an age in which the Government is an important employer, significant restriction on our liberties is taking place.
Pray for Islington Borough Council, that they can make a brave decision supporting freedom of religion and for the Christian Legal Centre working on this case today.
If you would like to support Theresa Davies we would be very grateful. To do this, please make a donation to the Christian Legal Centre (CLC) by clicking on one of the two images below.

Prophecy given by Dr. Sharon Stone, Glasgow, Summer, 2008

"September is a turning point and a sign of the times.  It is all about those who have made Godly alignments in this season being blessed with revelation and information in the midst of world crisis.

"I see more banks will suffer: a USA world bank's shares are in trouble - I see government in the USA bailing out mortgage giants and the government in England cutting house purchase taxes for the sagging housing crisis, to no avail.  I see a European airline failing with no notice.  I see the eyes of the world looking to see, 'who is this coming out of Alaska?'  And I see smoke coming from the Chunnel.

"As I see these things I hear the encouragement of God to His Isaacs in the earth who sow in the times of famine and reap 100 fold in the year.  I'm not a prosperity preacher, I'm a prophet.  And God is saying that September will convince you that you must connect to His economic system.  There are always the few that are greatly blessed when the majority are shaken, threatened and fearful.

"God says, 'Have you positioned yourself for THE NEW?  Your storehouse is not an earthly bank.  Hold on and I will bail you out of your mortgage issues.  Am I not better to you than any government?  I will not leave you stranded on foreign soil, and I will carry you above the circumstances better than any plane or jet.  And your hope is not an Alaskan saviour, but Me.' I know that sounds strange, it does to me also.

"England, the smoke I saw coming out of the Chunnel is a warning for your intercessors to arise and cut off the enemy's plan to sabotage and siege England's favour in trade.  Let him who has ears hear.

"God I release an Isaac anointing upon us now!"
