WOUNDED LIONS

Different societies have struggled to put together a picture of manhood employing varying combinations of strength and tenderness in the model they have proposed. In Britain the picture of the Knight has for a long time defined the way of putting together the tender and steely attributes for the British male. Largely because of the British empire and through literature these values and their more modern incarnation as the ‘gentleman’ have percolated across the globe. [Sadly, with comparable efficiency Britain has in recent years been propagating a very different model for manhood]. The truth is the Bible does not prescribe exactly the proportions of steeliness and tenderness for each man, but the model for the corporate mix in the church is seen in Jesus Christ himself.  God’s original model man was Adam, and after he fell he was replaced as the model by Jesus -  the second Adam.
